Hey there! I am Rebekah Clark, and I am so excited to get rolling with my new blog! A little about me… I have been a DIY’er/crafter for pretty much as long as I can remember. I am ADDICTED to audio books, like I can’t even fall asleep at night anymore without having a book playing! I like my creamer with a little coffee ;). I love love love sitting and working in my bed. I AM A MESSER! Always have been… always will be, which is quite ironic since I married an absolute clean freak. If you walked through my house you could pretty easily tell which side of the bed is mine, which sink in the bathroom is mine, or where I have been working on a project lately! I am terrified of bugs, really all of them (I don’t like to discriminate). I am also a BIG supporter of messy buns and yoga pants. In fact, you can pretty much count on them most if not every day! My husband… and probably most people that know me, would tell you that I am a shopper! I am a pretty heavy hitter on Amazon, but I would never pass up a good walk through Target!
My husband is a computer geek and we are so lucky that he gets to work from home full time, so he is stuck with us girls all day every day. He and I grew up in church together and he had the BIGGEST crush on me even back when we were just babes (and I totally knew it)! We never actually dated until we were in college (he was extremely shy… or maybe I just really scared him lol). We are absolutely perfect for each other! I am a firm believer that opposites attract! Once we were married our DIY yin and yang was in full swing… I told him what to do, and he did it ;)! We bought our first house, which was a total remodel project (of course), and took a crack at it. Let’s just say that we learned a lot of very valuable lessons in that house. We loved it though! I can’t even count how many home projects we have done together… bathrooms, kitchens, flooring, you name it! There is very little that we would not be willing to attempt.
We have 4 beautiful, amazing, crazy little girls! We thought for sure the 4th one HAD to be a boy, but apparently a bunch of daddy’s girls is all he is going to get ;)! Our oldest daughter is going to give me a run for it here pretty soon with her crafting abilities! That girl can make something out of nothing! Literally… she goes through my trash in my craft room and makes absolute masterpieces with it! She is also a little fashionista! She rolls out of bed all prim and proper and dressed up for the day. Our two middle girls are a little more sporty, and LOVE to pester each other! They are our live entertainment 24/7! Some of the stuff they come up with… I just have no clue. And then there is our newest addition! A whopping 8 weeks old (at the time of this post) and just as cute and snuggly as ever. She absolutely loves big bows and frilly ruffle outfits, she told me so ;)!
So why am I starting a blog… Well, I told you about house #1 being a total remodel, house #2 was the complete opposite, and really the only project we did in that house was walling off our 3rd car garage and turning it into a craft room for me! We just moved into house #3 about 6 months ago, and this one falls somewhere in the middle of #1 and #2. It is a 4300 sq ft walk out basement home, and I am guessing by the time we are done with it we will have probably touched every inch of this house in one way or another. It was built in the 80’s so it needs some updating, but the location was perfect, the space was perfect, it has a huge yard, and we are pretty close to a lake so we have deer, turkey, groundhogs, etc that hang out in our backyard everyday! Plus we obviously aren’t afraid to take on some home remodeling projects! I have had “the itch” to start a blog for a long time. So here we are cranking out projects, 1 room at a time (especially now that we have a newborn), and I just keep thinking… these before and after pictures would be perfect for some blog posts. So here I am! It is definitely not perfect, but I figure if I keep waiting to get this baby launched until I (a perfectionist) feel like it is perfect… we will be here for quite a while. I love baking… and crafting… and decorating, so those are the things that I will blog about. I landed on My DIY Family, because even though I am obviously the mastermind behind it all, it really is the spirit of our family. I hope you enjoy our blog and hopefully find a little inspiration along the way!
